How much does PEN Play cost?
Each child needs a seat, priced at R99 per child. Every subscription starts with a 30-day free trial. See Subscription & billing.
Will I be charged during the trial?
No. Payments are currently in testing mode, so you won't be charged. You'll still go through a checkout step so you can see how it works - see Subscription & billing.
Can one account be a parent and a teacher?
Yes. Roles are additive - add another from your Profile. See Choosing your account type.
Do I have to verify my email every time I sign in?
No. You verify once per device - by clicking the link or entering the 5-digit code in the email - and PEN Play then remembers that device for about 90 days. You'll only verify again on a new device, after 90 days, or if you clear cookies. See Signing in & account security.
What do I need to download?
Your child plays the Whartels game, available on the App Store and Google Play. The portal itself is this website - nothing to install. See Linking the Whartels game.
How does my child's device connect to their account?
Three ways, all equivalent: Link Online, scan the Student QR, or paste the Child ID. Pick whichever is easiest - full steps in Linking the Whartels game.
Why does a school or therapist need my approval?
You control who connects to your child. Any request to add your child to a class or practice, or to link a device, comes to you to approve or decline. See Approving requests.
Can I add more than one child?
Yes - add as many children as you like, each with their own seat. See Adding a child.
How do I change the language?
Use the language switcher in the top bar to pick English or Afrikaans. It's remembered for next time.
How do I delete my data?
PEN Play provides a data deletion request form. You can request removal of your personal data there, or contact Support for help.
How do I get help?
Use Support in the top menu of any page, or the help option on the portal. If something's broken, Troubleshooting covers the common fixes first.
