Building classrooms

Create classrooms, add and enrol students, assign seats and manage the roster in bulk.

Classrooms are how you group your learners in PEN Play. Each classroom belongs to your school and has its own roster, activity and mood tracker.

Create a classroom

  1. Go to Classrooms.
  2. If you belong to more than one school, select the right one.
  3. Tap to create a classroom, give it a name and set its grade.
  4. Save. The new classroom appears in your list.

You can search and filter your classrooms by grade to find the right one quickly.

Open a classroom

Tap a classroom to see its detail page, where you can:

  • View the student roster.
  • See the class mood and active games.
  • Assign seats to students.
  • Run bulk actions across several students at once.
  • Add students to the class.

Adding students

There are a few ways to get learners into a classroom:

  • Add students directly from the classroom page.
  • Enrol by QR - scan a student's code to identify and add them quickly.

When you add a child who belongs to a parent, the parent is asked to approve the connection before the child joins - see Approving requests for the parent's side.

Tip

Bulk actions are the fastest way to set up a new class - select many students at once instead of handling them one by one.

Seats

Just like at home, a learner needs a seat to play. Depending on how your school is set up, seats may be provided by the school. Assign seats to students from the classroom page so they can start playing.
